We envision a future in which people live, love and laugh longer
together. In this future, technology is at the service of people and
health. In this future, we help people reconnect to themselves and
listen to their bodies through monitoring technology that is
integrated into daily clothes.

Nanoleq has ambitious goals, a strong team spirit

I am a very optimistic, passionate and curious person. I believe that we understand too little yet about the human body, and as an engineer, I want to build meaningful products to contribute to a better knowledge of ourselves.

My background lies in the technical field: I have a material engineering degree from UTT (2012, France) and a PhD in microtechnologies from ETH Zurich (2016).

Since the inception of Nanoleq, I am responsible for the vision and overall strategy, company management, fundraising and business prospecting activities. On this mission, I am surrounded by a wonderful team dedicated to improving people’s health through the next generation of monitoring textiles. During my journey, I have received several prizes, such as the ETH Pioneer Fellowship (2016) and the De Vigier award (2018).

Niclas Granqvist
CTO

I am a passionate engineer with a strong interest in health applications improving the human condition.

I have a bachelor in electronics and automation and a master’s degree in chemical engineering. Over the years, I have been involved in the development of wearables and Software. A significant part of my life has been devoted to creating horizontal device ecosystems for the secure exchange of health data. In 2014, I received the Bluetooth key contributor award for standards contributions.

At Nanoleq, my responsibilities include driving R&D and technical development. In the past, I have observed the difficult attempts of the industry to integrate electronics and clothes. As the first company in the world, Nanoleq has developed a range of solutions that make it possible to integrate electronics with textiles that are seamless and invisible, resistant to corrosion with excellent signal quality in a standard manufacturing process. This is what the industry has been looking for, and it has the potential to transform many industry verticals.

Serge Weydert
Founder, CPIO

I am interested in understanding the numbers and mechanisms behind things, and I am able to dive fast into complex topics. I really enjoy the scientific atmosphere at Nanoleq, especially the many philosophical debates and nerd nights.

My background is electrical engineering, and I have a PhD in Neuroscience and Microtechnology (ETH Zurich). I founded my first company when I was 25 years old and launched to market a novel medical device for the neurorehabilitation of stroke patients – the company successfully merged with a German medical company.

At Nanoleq, my second company, I am leading product management, sales and innovation. I sincerely believe in the value of providing accurate information about the body directly to people, not only to doctors. With Nanoleq, I see a unique chance for empowering the general public to better understand their bodies and be in the driver’s seat in their journey to a healthy life.

Luca Hirt
Founder, COO

I am an electrical engineer by background but I have always tried to keep an open mind and a broad skill set.

I received a PhD from ETH Zurich in 2016, where I was working on Microtechnologies in the group where Nanoleq’s stretchable electronics technologies were developed. We saw a great opportunity to turn this research into meaningful products, which is why we founded the company in 2017.

At Nanoleq, I am responsible for the operations, currently focusing on the production of electrodes and textile connectivity solutions. The exchange with both the R&D team and sales is stimulating and lets me be involved in all aspects of the company.

Seeing our company and the team grow is the most rewarding aspect of my work. As the current HR responsible, I have the privilege to be actively involved in this process and I am excited to help shape the company in the coming years!

Heike Bördgen
Head of textile engineering

I am an empathetic person that loves to be surrounded by people. I am very passionate about bringing different parties together to make a project work from the first idea to a final product.

Textiles have always been a part of my life. I studied textile engineering at the HAW Hamburg (2012, Germany) and in applied textile management at the Textilhögskolan Boras (2014, Sweden). I also spent 6 years working for Mammut in quality and material management and obtained a Lean Six Sigma green belt.

At Nanoleq, I am leading textile engineering since 2020, working with our customers to create the best possible products for their needs.

In the future, I want to shape an exciting and inclusive working culture together with the team at Nanoleq. I am very closely linked to the company’s vision as I am regularly practising meditation, breathing and biofeedback. Therefore bringing the Nanoleq products to life represents a personal goal for me.

Flurin Stauffer
Founder, Head of R&D

I am fascinated by the interface between electronics and biology, especially by its potential to improve people’s health and life.

Previously, I received a master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering and conducted a PhD at the Laboratory of Biosensors & Bioelectronics at ETH Zurich. For my PhD work on soft bioelectronics, I was awarded the SSBE Research award 2018 of the Swiss Society for Biomedical Engineering and the Hilti prize 2018 for innovative research with practical relevance.

At Nanoleq, I am currently leading our R&D efforts, from developing individual smart textile components to complete smart garments for monitoring biosignals. I particularly enjoy the interdisciplinary nature of Nanoleq’s approaches. Together with our talented team, I love to create innovative and purposeful health monitoring textile products.

Masih Nilchian

I am thrilled to be a part of a journey to help people have a better and healthier life.

My background is in computer science and electrical engineering. I received my PhD in biomedical imaging from EPFL in 2015, and after five years of experiences as chief technology and data science officer with a demonstrated history of working in the health and wellness industry, I joined Nanoleq.

At Nanoleq, we follow our vision by developing the next generation of vital signals monitoring textiles. I am responsible for leading our data science team to analyze collected data to provide meaningful feedback for our users. It’s exciting to be part of this highly talented and enthusiastic team with such an incredible mission.

I have a PhD in electrical engineering from ETH and was a visiting scientist at the MIT Lab for Computer Science for three years, worked several years as a manager at the Boston Consulting Group, as a member of the Nokia Leadership Team and as a CEO of HERE, the world’s largest mapping company. In my life, I founded and co-founded several successful startups, including Gate5, and more recently Fatmap and German Bionic Systems. I am on the board of Vortexa, Trafi and most recently the Zurich Insurance Group. I love disruptive innovation, with the goal to help people to live a richer and healthier life. I decided to become an investor and board member, because I am convinced that Nanoleq has potential to lead a biofeedback revolution, helping people to acquire real life-improving habits.

Being in the sports industry for 20 years, I believe that monitoring textiles are now at the tipping point. For years, I have been looking into many different solutions but did not find proper applications for hundreds of use cases out there. Being a passionate climber and skier myself, I have been disappointed by our industry not being able to bring the right solutions to market. That has changed. With The Vital Shirt the Nanoleq team is shaping a new era in health monitoring textiles. To capture and monitor vital sign activity in comfortable garments is the base for several essential applications. And there is more to come…

I have led several companies in the consumer, cosmetics and luxury industries. I am passionate about strategy, marketing, branding and innovation and this is why I am closely involved in these topics at Nanoleq. I am excited to be part of the journey as one of the first investors in the company because I am convinced that Nanoleq will shake up the textile market in the coming years.

Andreas Kuhn
Ex-CTO Altran CH

In the last 20 years, my focus was on Software and supporting teams to build great Software. I have a PhD in Electrical and Biomedical Engineering from ETH, where I worked on electrical stimulation on humans. We also used textile electrodes – however, compared to what Nanoleq has today – they were uncomfortable, difficult to produce, and painful. Then I spent 13 years in Engineering Consulting with Altran, and was also member of the Executive Management Board in Switzerland in charge of the Solution Sales Business.

I am excited about supporting Nanoleq as an advisor because based on my previous experience in the field I see the strong USP that Nanoleq products can already offer today.

I am a professor of bioelectronics at ETH Zurich , and I was advising the founders of Nanoleq during their PhD work.

Besides giving regular inputs on the technology developed at Nanoleq, I often exchange information about the new cutting edge stretchable, hybrid bioelectronics developed in my group, the Laboratory of Biosensors and Bioelectronics.
